How Do You Install A Washing Machine
How Do You Install A Washing Machine
The instructions below will tell you how to install a washing machine in your home. This process could take anywhere between 10 minutes and 1 hour depending on your experience and DIY-skills.
1, Unpack the Machine and Determine Placement
The first thing you will need to do is unpack the washing machine from its box. You will probably find it easiest to place the machine on top of a towel or blanket, as this can help protect your floor from any scratches or scuffs. Before installing your washing machine, it’s a good idea to place the hardware in a safe place so that you won’t lose anything. This can include screws, bolts and washer hoses.
2, Check the Drain Hose and Determine Placement
The next thing that you will need to do is check the drain hose. The drain hose is located under your washing machine, usually coming out of the bottom, back corner of it. It will be necessary for your new washer’s drain hose length to fit where you intend it to drain the waste water away. If your drain hose is too short you may need to extend it howether this is a rare.
3, Make sure the machine will be level
Before installing your washing machine it is necessary to make sure the machine will be level . Many washing machines come with legs that are adjustable, meaning you can raise or lower them for added stability. To get the machine properly level, you may need to adjust these legs. You can purchase a small spirit level from any hardware store if you don’t have one available.
4, Attach the Drain Hose
The next thing that you will need to do is attach your drain hose . If installing an in-sink model, you will need to attach the hose to both the sink and drain. If installing a stand-alone model you will need to attach your hose to a floor drain this usually just pushes in and should have a hook installed so as not to push the hose too far down and cause syphoning.
5, Attach the fill hose
The next thing that you will need to do is attach the fill hose. If installing an in-sink model, you will need to connect the fill hose to both the water supply and machine.
Most modern washing machines only use the cold fill option now and will not be fitted with a hot valve, always use the new hose supplied with the machine and make sure the washer for the hose is in place so to prevent any leaks, once you have connected everything up turn water on before pushing the machine into place and make sure there are no leaks.
6, Push machine into place
After connecting up your washing machine, the final step will be to push it into place Make sure you are careful while doing this, as even if you did everything correctly there may still be leaks. The last thing that you want is to end up damaging your floor, there are special skis that you can put under the washing machine to help slide it in and prevent damage to floors, our engineers use these when needed.
As you can see installing a washing machine is not very hard, anyone with basic knowledge of DIY should be able to do this. Should you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
